Naturally Curly Hair: How to Care for Your Curls

Curly hair is one of a kind. It coils, bends, and curls. It can be fragile and delicate because of all the twists and turns. The natural oils produced by the scalp to soften and protect strands have a tougher time flowing from top to bottom due to its curved form. As a result, curly hair frequently suffers from a lack of moisture.

Curly hair is, in essence, thirsty hair. Lather-rinse-repeat is for the rest of them because of all of the foregoing. The hair care routine for females with naturally curly hair is rather different. For all types of natural curls, this article will provide some precious information.

Pre shampoo

The pre-shampoo practice is recommended for fragile hair. It is exactly what it sounds like: a step taken prior to shampooing. Pre-shampooing softens, conditions, and detangles the hair. It protects hair from unnecessary roughness and damage during the shampooing process, especially if it’s knotted or snarled.

To practice this hair care routine step, apply a conditioner or conditioning oil to dry hair before shampooing. Divide your hair into parts and work the conditioner into your hair well, separating your curls and working the product in with your fingertips. Leave it on for at least 20 minutes, and if your hair is really tangled, cover it with a plastic hat or towel to help heat up your head and open up your hair’s cuticle.

Wash your hair in sections to avoid tangling

Shampooing your hair and rubbing, scrubbing, spinning, or stacking it on top of your head can be catastrophic for curls. This produces tangles that you don’t want to think about. Instead, dissect it. Make four portions out of your hair, or more if it’s particularly thick. All saves in the first section should be twisted or clipped away.

Massage a tiny amount of shampoo or cleansing conditioner into your scalp thoroughly. Then squeeze it down along the lengths carefully. Carry on with the rest of the sections in the same manner. Then rinse in the same order, beginning at the scalp and squeezing the suds out of the lengths from top to bottom.

You don’t need to shampoo daily

Curly hair does not require as much shampooing as straight hair. Shampooing too often can stretch and stress fragile strands, as well as dry up thirsty curls. Conditioner, on the other hand, is your best buddy. Bring it into the shower with you on a regular basis, even if you don’t shampoo your hair.

Use a lot of conditioner – especially deep conditioner

Apply deep conditioner after shampooing. Choose a solution that meets your hair’s requirements. Is the air dry? Choose a moisturizing formula with humectants such as glycol, glycerin, or high-quality oils. Is it flimsy? To regain strength, you’ll require a protein reconstructor including silk amino acids or keratin.

Work this product into your hair in sections to ensure it’s properly applied. Avoid putting moisture on your scalp because that’s not where it’s needed. To evenly distribute the conditioner, use a wide tooth comb. Cover your hair with a towel for 20 minutes or place it under a plastic cap or hood dryer for 10 minutes.

Be gentle when combing

Invest in a comb of the highest possible quality. Pulling or raking is not recommended. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair after shampooing and detangle gently, section by section. Always detangle your hair when it’s damp, particularly after a coat of conditioner has been applied.

In terms of brushing? Just don’t do it. By breaking up the hair strands and generating a frothy, frizzy mess, it will wreak havoc on your curl pattern. With a brush, you also risk tugging the hair out at the root, breaking it midshaft, or causing split ends.

These tips are linked to basic and essential steps of the hair care routine. However, they are super effective and by practicing them you will soon notice a great difference in your curls.
