Every woman knows how important it is to have a good handbag – one that is beautiful and practical! But, unfortunately, not everyone knows that purses need to be taken care of in very specific ways. Unless you want to change handbags every year, it’s time you start doing some of the things we are going to talk about today[1]5 Tips to Take Care of Your Handbag. (2016, June 3). HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR HANDBAG

From designer handbags to generic versions, every purse needs some maintenance! Pay attention to the tips[2]How to Properly Take Care of Your Handbag, According to Designers. (n.d.). Byrdie. Retrieved April 7, 2021, from https://www.byrdie.com/properly-take-care-of-your-handbag-455003 below to keep your bag good as new for a really long time!

  1. KEEP IT IN SHAPE

If you have ever owned a purse that suddenly sunk in, you know how difficult it can be to bring it back to its original shape. To avoid all the effort you’ll have to make to restore it, put a sweater inside it or a newspaper so it stays in shape even when you aren’t using it!

Oh, and this mainly happens with large purses (like the one below), so if you are used to smaller handbags, maybe you won’t have to worry about this too much!

  1. GET A DUST BAG

When you buy a purse, it normally comes inside or with a dust bag. Dust bags are actually great to keep your handbag in good condition, so make sure you keep them! When you aren’t using your purse, don’t just leave them without any protection: put them inside the dust bag!

By doing so, you are keeping your handbag out of light (something important, especially when it comes to leather bags) and avoiding dust and other damaging factors!

  1. USE MAINTENANCE PRODUCTS

If you have never heard of this before, there are actually lots of maintenance products specifically designed for purses! There are some of those that can reduce or remove stains, some work as liquid and stain “repellents” and others are destined for leather and suede bags, such as the gorgeous leather bag below! If you want your handbag to look great and new, try using maintenance products, ok?

  1. DON’T OVERDO THE CLEANING, THOUGH

Depending on what material your handbag is made of, the amount of cleaning it requires will be different. To guarantee your purse won’t wear off because you cleaned it more than it needed to be cleaned (or you used strong maintenance products a lot), try to clean it only when it needs to, all right? And if you want to clean it after every time you wear it, use only a towel or cloth to remove dust and superficial residues.

  1. USE A CLUTCH OR A PURSE ORGANIZER

Women who need to stay out for a long time or just want to be prepared for anything know how many things they carry inside their handbags… If you are one of these ladies, please, make sure you put any liquid or staining products inside a clutch. You can also opt for a purse organizer – it will keep your bag protected AND everything inside in order!

You can find purse organizers for different sizes of handbags, even for those with “unusual” shapes, like Hobo bags!

  1. PUT IT ON A SHELF

When you are done wearing a purse for the day or are going to let your handbag “rest” for a few days, don’t just leave it hanging somewhere or inside a closet without a dust bag. Leave it on a surface instead, preferably inside the dust bag! This way, the handbag’s handle won’t be unnecessarily used (as this can make it distorted) and the purse won’t mold.

So, did you already know about the cares you should have with your handbags? If you didn’t, it’s time to take care of them! After all, you want your purse to last for a long time, don’t you?
