First of all, what is sensitive skin? In this post, we are going to consider a sensitive complexion as one that is prone to allergies and irritations. So if you get an itchy face after applying moisturizer or makeup, this article will help you to avoid that!

SKINCARE SECRETS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

  1. KEEP IT SIMPLE

Most of the time, when we think about skincare routines, we imagine several different products. But that’s not exactly true, especially when the skin in question is sensitive. So the first thing you should do is keep your routine simple!

There’s no need to worry about using a lot of products, since the chances of suffering from an allergic reaction increase. Stick to the essential things, like a face cleanser, a moisturizer, toner, and serum! Also, ALWAYS wear sunscreen!

  1. TREAT YOUR SKIN GENTLY

Although on the item above we told you to stick only with the essential products, if you want to try something new, remember to be gentle to your skin! To introduce a new product, you should limit the amount of it and the frequency you use it – try to apply it only a few times a week until you know your skin tolerates it.

If you try to use a new product and your skin gets irritated, stop using it immediately and use a hypoallergenic face cream to stop the effects. If it doesn’t stop, go to a dermatologist, ok? And remember: always keep products away from sensitive areas such as the mouth, eyelids, and around the nose!

  1. PAY ATTENTION TO THE INGREDIENTS AND LABELS

Each skin is unique, and sensitive skin can be triggered by different ingredients. However, there are a few substances that are well-known for causing allergic reactions: fragrances, parabens, and dyes, for instance. So when you buy a new product, pay attention to the ingredients list so you can avoid those we mentioned! Look for labels such as fragrance-free, hypoallergenic and paraben-free.

  1. DON’T OVERWASH

We know how important it is to keep your skin clean and how good it feels to have a fresh-cleansed face, but please DON’T overwash! Not all substances found on our faces are bad. There is actually a large number of natural lipids and protein that protect our skin! So to keep those protecting substances on your face, only wash it once a day and use a gentle face cleanser!

  1. BE CAREFUL WHEN EXFOLIATING

Just like over-washing can be harmful to your skin, over-exfoliating or doing it harshly can be truly terrible for it. If you want to exfoliate, do it a maximum of twice a week (ideally, do it once a week), and do it carefully! Oh, and look for products that have a hypoallergenic formula, ok?

  1. MAKE YOUR SKIN STRONG

As we mentioned before, the skin has a number of substances that actually protect the skin. To ensure you won’t suffer from allergic reactions or irritations frequently, make that barrier stronger! To do so, use products that are rich in vitamins, amino acids, and fatty acids, such as serums and moisturizers! Just don’t forget to patch test them as well!
