When should I condition my hair?
This answer is very subjective. It really depends on what your hair needs: some hair types need more moisture than others. Also, there are different types of conditioners: some are lighter and some are more potent and thicker.

Its formula is made to be balanced: providing enough moisture to get the hair smooth, but still lightweight enough to be used after all hair washes. However, if your hair is greasy and you feel it heavy by using conditioner every time, you might not need it after every wash and can reduce its use.
Leave-in
It has this name because you don’t have to rinse it – you literally leave it on your hair. It does not replace the regular rinse-out conditioner, but provides extra moisture for the strands. This product usually offers mild to moderate hydration and helps to repair damage.
Applying leave-in weekly is a good frequency, but if you have curly, coily or damaged hair you might have better results applying it more frequently.
Cleansing (or co-wash)
Cleansing conditioners, also known as co-washes, help to clean the hair just like a mild shampoo. They tend to be lighter than other types of conditioner, which makes them a great choice for people with greasy and thin hair. However, since their cleanse is really mild, it can’t replace shampoo in case of oily hair.
In case of curly, coily or dry hair, cleansing conditioners can be a good substitute for regular shampoo: these hair types tend to like the gentle cleanse offered by this product.
Deep conditioner
Deep conditioners are potent and super moisturizing. They are supposed to be left on hair for a longer period – sometimes, around 30 minutes or even more. Their formula is super concentrated, which helps to hydrate and repair damages. However, it is not for daily use: the recommendation is to apply it monthly.
Which is the best type
As you can see, each conditioner type has a different way of using and demands a different frequency of application. You don’t really have to choose only one type of conditioner: as you can see, some of them have a specific use that compliments your hair care routine.
